Race participation has increased by more than 300% in the past five years. Today more than 1 million multisport athletes train using all three sports for fitness, and more than 500,000 compete in multisport events. With triathlon’s third Olympic appearance in the August 2008 Beijing Games, international exposure has continued to fuel the boom.
