What our Racers have to Say.

The swim was spectacular

 Nick T     Arlington, VA

Please pass on my thanks to all the people that made the Lake Dunmore Tri such a great experience! I really enjoyed the entire course. The swim was spectacular…from a person that frequently swim the Potomac, Lake Dunmore is cool and crystal clear!

Knocked it out of the park

 Bill Ludlow     Quebec

“Once again you “knocked it out of the park” on Sunday. Vermont Sun Races set the standard for all others to “tri” to attain. Course, Venue, Volunteers, Food, and of course the music. Also, whenever I need a Yes fix I know where to go. Raeann and I had a blast and hope to make it out again soon. Keep pushing it close to the edge.”

Thank you.

“I just wanted to say thank you for a great first triathlon on June 28th. Both my husband and I did our first one and had an amazing day. We look forward to doing another sprint on July 20th!”

In a class by itself.

Christine McKnight     Member, USA Triathlon World Championship Team, 2004 and 2002

“The Vermont Sun triathlon series is in a class by itself. The triathlons offer a safe, well-organized opportunity for triathletes of all abilities to compete in a breath-taking setting in central Vermont. I have been competing in this series since 1997, and I build my racing season around these events because of the strong organization behind them, the experienced staff, and the triathlete-friendly atmosphere. Race Director Jerrod Rushton brings more than 15 years of experience to the table, and he sweats the details! The venue at Lake Dunmore offers a clean, clear lake swim and challenging, yet beautiful bike and run courses. The value for the entry fee is outstanding. I have competed in about 100 triathlons over the last 12 years, from local events to national and world championships, but the Vermont Sun races remain my favorites. The Half Vermont Journey offers a top late-season opportunity to test your fitness at a longer distance.”

Excellent job.

 Steven Urish     Burlington, VT

“First of all, I would like to thank you for having the Vermont Sun Triathlon race series. My first race was in 1994 and I have done at least one Vermont Sun Triathlon race each year ever since. I consider the venue for the races (Branbury State Park) to be the finest in the state. The swim course is never very cold or rough. The bike and run courses are both relatively flat and very scenic. The race organizers do an excellent job of marking the course and controlling the dangerous intersections so every participant has a safe and enjoyable race. Also, the awards ceremony occurs promptly at the conclusion of the race and the results appear on the website in a very timely manner. In conclusion, your races are done are very professionally done and very enjoyable. I will continue to participate in Vermont Sun Triathlons for years to come.”

Scenery was beautiful.

 Stephanie Pritchard     Brookline, MA

“I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the Half Vermont Journey this past weekend. It was extremely well run and the scenery was beautiful. One specific example that really impressed me was at an aid station on the bike. I needed some water and grabbed one of the Vermont plastic water bottles. I didn’t get a good look at it but as soon as I grabbed it I thought, “Now how am I supposed to get the plastic wrapper and plastic top off so I can drink??” But I looked down and not only had the tops been removed but the bottle was already open. I couldn’t help smiling. It was so wonderful to know everything was thought of, including what felt like my own personal coach circulating the course reminding us all to eat, drink and have fun. I can’t wait until next year! Thanks again!”

My first triathlon.

 Sheridan Bauman     Westbrook, CT

“I just wanted to say thanks for a great event on the 28th. It was my first triathlon and I had a blast! Everyone was very helpful in guiding me through the nerves of being a newbie… The swim layout was great, the bike was like an amusement park ride and the run was a perfect combo of slight uphill for the first half to downhill into the finish. I hope to make it a yearly event and getting 2nd in age leaves me wanting more! I am doing my first 70.3 in Providence this Sunday and although it will be harder in length, I hope I have the same smile I had for the duration at your event. Thank you so much to you and the volunteers! Good luck for the rest of the series.”

Great competition.

 David Foster     New York, NY

“I come back every year to the Vermont Sun Triathlon Series because of the great competition, the fantastic organization of the Vermont Sun management team and because there’s no more beautiful place to swim, bike, run, or relax before and after the race. I look forward to seeing all my friends at the next race!”

A wonderful community atmosphere.

Jeff Wood     Mokton, VT

“I completed 7 triathlons in my first season of triathlon, put on by various sponsors. Though far from an expert, I do feel qualified to say that the Vermont Series was the most enjoyable of all that I participated in. The volunteers are smiling and helpful. The venue is beautiful. And the competitors are all a pleasure.

It’s the types of competitors that Vermont Sun attracts that I found to be most interesting. There is a diverse mix of experienced veterans who take it very seriously, and “newbies” just getting their feet wet. The great thing is that those experienced triathletes are so willing and eager to lend assistance to the new folks. It creates a wonderful community atmosphere. In fact, in the last race of the series, as I was on the outward leg of the run course, the leader passed by on the inward leg, and as he passed each competitor, gave words of encouragement. Where else would you find this type of camaraderie at a competitive event?”

A leader in tri-events.

Mark H. Wilson     Professional Life & Triathlon Coach Founder/President Hudson Valley Triathlon Club – Bearsville, NY

“The Vermont Sun Triathlon Series is a respected and popular triathlon event(s)! Year after year, the events draw people from around the Northeast region and beyond because of the staff organization and surrounding beauty of the Vermont mountains, etc. I have raced in the series years and thoroughly enjoyed myself each time. The series has established itself as a leader in tri-events and has tremendous potential to reach new heights. I support the growth of this series and hope you will, too.”

Really impressed.
